WE are receiving so many letters and emails that it is impractical to publish them all. Correspondence:
IN RESPONSE TO THE REFUSAL OF AOG TO MEET WITH PHILIP POWELL: Dear Philip,I do thank God for men like you who can discern truth from error and have the courage to stand up against those who base their faith on ‘experiences’ and cannot rightly divide the Wordof God. When I was in that Church I found so little maturity among the leaders and had great conflict because truth cannot have fellowship with error. I have always contended that the ones that do not agree with the truth are the ones who are being divisive. Truth can-not have fellowship with error.David Petts is being very divisive and has shown no grace in refusing to meet Philip and discuss the issue. Does the AOG only meet with those who would agree with them? All these matters should be discussed in love, with the Word of God as the only criteria. Does the AOG think that error should go unchecked? BC South Wales, UK Dear Brothers in the Lord, I have gone through the latest issue of Contending Earnestly for the Faith with a fine toothcomb highlighting as I went — it truly is a fine paper. It is difficult to choose any one article and say, “I like this one best” because all merit top marks, however, there were instances when I could have shouted “Amen!” as I perused some of the articles. E.g. page six, Response from the Executive Council of Assemblies of God – Siam Bhayro’s answer was sheer genius. Then we had a letter from our Brother in the Lord Jacob Prasch – the wisdom of this letter was dazzling. In his last paragraph he said, “By all means warn them (the Executive) but in my view neither you or I can change them or persuade them away from an evil, God Him-self has handed them over to.” How true! Now that I have finished reading, I shall pass it on. I was browsing the web when I came across an article entitled “In a Crisis… Part 2: Untangling Pooh and Piglet” by SB. Great! Keep up the Good work. As you already know it is near impossible to get straight answers to straight questions from the Executive. When I last wrote to Paul Weaver asking him about sharing a platform with Ray Bevan etc, (3rd Feb 02) his only answer was to say that he had me investigated, and was con-tent that I was not a member of any AOG church – how wrong he is. I asked Mr Weaver what he meant by having me investigated. I received no answer. That fact that a member of the AOG can come under investigation because they dare to question the Hierarchy is disturbing. So on the 01/01/03, I emailed Messrs Weaver & Gill for an ex-planation. I wanted to know what system is in place to investigate me and other members, and how long it has been in place. I won’t hold my breath waiting for an answer. Keep up the sterling work and best wishes to you and your colleagues over the New Year. Yours in Christ Jesus AL Scotland, UK Dear Mailer, Thanks for the updates. Its great to see that there are some saints ‘out there’ who care about correct doctrine.Keep up the good work. RG Timaru, NZ Refer also to M Cerullo Court case I came upon your website while researching Morris Cerullo. Thank you for putting out information that exposes frauds like him. A friend of mine who is not a Christian works at a Hotel in Orlando where Cerullo had just had one of his money rallies. She asked me if I’d heard of him and if he was some kind of snake oil sales-man. Evidently he has duped some more people into his crusade and left a very unfavourable opinion on the people that work there. It’s very difficult to discuss your faith with people when they see charlatans like this. It’s unconscionable – the things that are perpetrated by these people. The people staying there for the crusade were poor and did not know how much they were going to be required to spend. They were mostly from third world countries and this guy is taking them to the cleaners. My friend said it was the worst group of people she has ever served. What can we do as Christians to stop this kind of thing? I do not necessarily agree with everything I read in your newsletter but I believe there is a place for critical examination of these people. I am a member of the Vineyard, which I notice you are somewhat critical of, but whatever our theological differences, these people have to be stopped. USA
