Dear Reader, It HAS been a year since our last annual report in the UK edition of Again, I would like to thank all of you for your support over this last year our second in publication. We have very much appreciated your prayerful support, and we are continually encouraged by your letters. Over the past year, we have seen a considerable expansion in the work we do. We now feel like we are firmly established in both New Zealand and Australia, and our relationship with Philip Powell and his CWM team has developed to the point where we have merged. Hence the publication of our end of year report in CETF, which serves as the current affairs arm of our work. Please continue to pray for us over the coming year, especially for the following points:
Over the past year, we have sent out well in excess of 10,000 copies of Vanguard in the UK and Europe, as well as in excess of 3,000 copies of CETF since our merger took place. For this we give thanks to God. We have also had a broader range of contributors over this past year, We would like to thank all of the following for their contributions: Aeron Morgan, John C Whitham, Philip L Powell, Tony Pearce, Bill Randles, Philip Foster, Per Andersson, Neil Richardson, John Cooper. We would also like to thank those of you who have sent in donations. Over the past year, we have received £4,056.61p In donations, all of which is used to fund Vanguard (both here and abroad). £4,000 was used In the establishing of the work in Australia and New Zealand. This was really encouraging as we felt it a proper use of our readers' donations to aid like minded brethren abroad in this way. Assuming that each Vanguard costs fifty pence to produce and mail out, we probably ran at a loss of somewhere in the region of £4,500. Last year's pun, however, about looking for a prophetic anointing rather than a profit, stands. Our priorities differ from that of the world's (and some "Christians"). Now for a piece of news which saddens us all, but is necessary for us to keep to the high standards we expect from others. Notice of disassociation from Joanthan FiddyOVER the past year, we have become increasingly concer ned at the behaviour of one of our original contributorsJonathan Fiddy, of Fleet, Hampshire, UK. When we began Vanguard, we were very much one with this young minister of the Word. His stance regarding deception in the church, Israel and the end times, Catholicism and many other issues was in line with ours and we very much appreciated his teaching on such matters. It came to our attention, however, that Jonathan was forming very strong personal links with Mike Reid, and hence with his Peniel assembly, Brentwood, Essex, UK. This was of concern to many but, having no knowledge of Mr Reid and Peniel (except hearsay, which we could not confirm), we asked Neil Richardson to undertake an investigation of the man and the organisation. This Investigation was published as our Unmasked articleUK Vanguard 7 and Jonathan Fiddy was invited to respond in person to both Neil Richardson and myself,. This meeting concluded with Jonathan being warned concerning his links with Mike Reid, and Jonathan agreeing that there is cause for concern. Jonathan further added that he would like us to meet with Mike Reid to express our concerns to him in person. When asked why he would not discuss them himself with Mr Reid, Jonathan was visibly afraid, and commented that he would like us both there. It was agreed that Jonathan would set up the meeting. This meeting has still not taken place, and further discussion with Jonathan Fiddy indicates that he has since backtracked and has decided to avoid any confrontation with Mr Reid and to remain in fellowship with him. Jonathan Fiddy told us that he has now been ordained by Mr Reid. We are of the opinion that we have gone as far as we can with Jonathan Fiddy, and that it is now up to him to repent of his involvement with Mr Reid and renounce his ordination into the Peniel fold. Until such a time, we disassociate ourselves from him publicly, and state that our only contact with him personally will be to counsel him in this direction. Mr Fiddy was a young minister with great potential and gifting, and we regret this situation greatly, We would ask out readers to pray for the others involved in this workthat we would learn from this sad affair and be kept from going down the same path. For further comment, please see Neil Richardson's article, which follows this: God bless, EdVanguard Appeared in Volume 4.3 November/December 1998 |
