FROM BERNIE KOERSELMANDear Randy, I sat looking at my Promise Keepers black coffee mug this morning, reading the words, "Men of Integrity" and thinking that if what I've read is true, then the men leading Promise Keepers are no longer men of integrity, surely not in God's eyes, though they may remain so for a while longer in the eyes of most men. I'm enclosing for you an excerpt from the latest Berean Call newsletter by Dave Hunt's ministry. People may argue about what Dave says and how he says it, but it remains that he writes some of the best researched books and articles on Christian subjects there are. That is why I am particularly distressed about what he's written this time about Promise Keepers. You and I have corresponded before about the things that have been circulated and said about Promise Keepers. Because of the very positive experiences I (and many others) have had at the Promise Keeper rallies, I have defended PK to everyone. It seemed like an organisation which God would (and I believe has) use to draw men back to their biblical responsibilities as men and leaders in his church. Now, unfortunately, it would appear that PK will be at the forefront of the great deception promised for the latter days. In a desire for ecumenism, you have either forgotten (or never known) the true nature of the Reformation and the true character of the Roman Catholic Church. Though few have the courage to say so, the Roman Catholic Church is the worst of all the cults. And a cult it is, with doctrines far more deviant than the many other cults described in books dealing with that subject. And the church is far more dangerous, still persecuting and killing Protestants in those countries where it exercises both religious and political control. It has killed millions of Christian believers over the centuries. It declares all Protestants to be anathema because of Protestant doctrines which are fundamental to the faith of Protestant believers. Nevertheless, PK leaders are seeking ecumenical ties to the Roman Catholic Church. Worse, it seems this was intentional from the start. To quote the article: "Promise Keeper founder Bill McCartney told Our Sunday Visitor [the Catholic newsletter] recently that full Catholic participation was his intention from the start." When I brought this subject to you before, I warned against having any Catholic as a speaker. According to the Our Sunday Visitor article (enclosed) PK has spotlighted Catholic evangelist Jim Berlucchi as a speaker. Wonderful!!! You've now legitimatised the Roman Catholic Church in the worst possible way, by putting their spokesman on the stage. Have you made your position known to PK speakers and participants? The article alleges that you have not. Isn't that a fundamental requirement for "Men of Integrity"? I think it is. I cannot support any organisation that has ties to Rome, the historical enemy of the faith, the persecutor of the church of my Lord Jesus. It would be my hope, Randy, that you could write back and say the article was full of fabrications and lies and dispel such falsehoods. How great were the opportunities to serve the Lord that were entrusted to PK. If the organisation has degenerated into an apostate organisation seeking ecumenism with the enemy of the Lord Jesus and his church, may God be merciful to the PK leaders on the day of judgment. A distressed and concerned follower of the Lord Jesus, Bernie Koerselman PS On my website (see above), you will find the letter I wrote to Chuck Colson who also has succumbed to Satanic influence to promote ecumenism with Rome. In that letter I detail much of the irreconcilable error of the Catholic Church. If you have interest in knowing the truth - if you don't already know it - please read that letter. PPS. Just got a phone call from the states which interrupted this letter to tell about PK weekend in Washington DC Was told it was great - the news coverage was far better than expected, but my blood ran cold when I learned that a Catholic bishop was one of the speakers.
