We received this first letter from Rev Clive J Smith

Some Christian friends gave me a copy of `Contending EARNESTLY For The Faith'. Would it be possible to receive a copy each issue as I wish to help a good Christian minister friend who is unable to see the holes in Benny Hinn's ministry, but of which I have been aware since the beginning having actively spoken out against Hinn and Howard-Browne and copping the ensuing flak from various sources. Due to the fact that I work in the Missions and mainly in third world countries, I have not had the necessary information to help this friend but I have written by email to Mike Oppenheimer, as you suggest in your Newsletter and hope I can get some videos especially on Hinn, which would expose him. I was at a Hinn meeting early in 1998 when he gave a false prophecy and I sent him a note to say it was false at that meeting but still the masses follow him to their folly. Any help you can give with information on this man would be appreciated as my friend actually promotes Hinn's ministry through his Video Ministry but he needs to stop this practice forthwith

Thank you for the interest you have shown and with the help of some videos and tapes with some brochures and newsletters, I want to tell you that my Pastor friend is dropping Benny Hinn & those other lunatic fringe apostates. Good news hey!! Please feel free to publish those letters of testimony in your magazine and I do pray that it will help others to witness to the error in the church today and that many may come to right discernment of false teaching and false prophecy. Let me say that when words like "negative" and "jealousy" are dropped when I have mentioned some who are exposing these apostates, I have said to them that I thank God for these people who are willing to cop the flak and stand against the tide of the backslidden church. If you don't stand for something you don't stand for anything.
My firm belief for many years is that God has allowed this to come into our churches because so-called leaders have been saying "of evangelism" — God isn't doing it this way any more; That might have worked once but it doesn't work now. Actually they are saying that Jesus didn't know what he was doing, that he was a fool and so deny the sacred entrustment of the Great Commission he committed unto us. There is another erroneous teaching floating around here in Australia and supported by Pentecostal pastors and the Ministers Fraternal Groups that
we are responsible for the sins of our forefathers in relation to aboriginal reconciliation, and when confronted with the many scriptures denying this they attempt to shoot the speaker rather than address the doctrine. You hear words like "discrimination by Christians" … It does hurt me to see pastors who are leading their flock down this false path. I guess once you get into error on one thing and don't stand for the truths of the gospel it becomes one downhill slide. God bless you all for the work you are doing and I stand with you strongly in the exposure of all unrighteousness regarding God's teachings.
