DEC 24, 1999: (midnight mass), Pope inaugurates "The Jubilee Holy Year". December 24, 1999 to January 6, 2001. Note the reference to "Jubilee" — see Neo-Pentecostals, page 15.
FEB 24-26, 2000: Pope visits Egypt and meets Coptic Pope Shenuda III. No Pope ever visited this largest Arab "Christian" (Coptic) community (Egypt) before. There are some 57 million Muslims and approximately 7 million "Copts", with less than 1,000 Roman Catholics in Egypt. Was it an attempt at religious unity or just extending the Vatican's influence? Is there a difference?
MAR 12, 2000: The Day of Pardon Pope John Paul II apologies for the "sins" of Christians. Jewish leaders urge the Pope to be more specific and the Vatican to open its Holocaust archives.
MAR 21-27, 2000: Pope John Paul II in Israel
March 22 — Visits Bethlehem. Is welcomed by Yasser Arafat. Deplores plight of Palestinians.
March 23 — Pope at Holocaust Memorial tells of his own memories of Polish holocaust victims.
March 24 — Pope delivers his own Sermon on the Mount against evil and hate.
March 25 — Pope visits Nazareth and urges renewal of faith in the town of Jesus' upbringing.
March 26 — Pope visits Jerusalem. Begs forgiveness for treatment of Jews. Pays tribute to Jews. Appeals for Christian unity in a mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchure. Visits and prays at the Wailing Wall; and calls for a frest start at the shrine of Jesus' resurrection.
March 27 — Israel hails visit as beginning of new conciliatory era.

"And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision."

—Daniel 8:16 & 17

"And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the might and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand."

—Daniel 8: 23-25
POPE John Paull II has made it clear that his mission in life is one of reconciliation. He has stated that he aims to reconcile the three monotheistic religions — Christianity, Judaism and Islam. He is obviously a past master at promoting compromise and mutual accptance, which so frequently masquerade as peace. As I watched his performance in Bethlehem with the Arabs, who are known to be so anti-Jewish, I thought to myself, he must be undermining any attempt at reconciliation between Jews and his own Roman Catholic brand of so called Christianity, but I was wrong. His brinkmanship, age and frailty simply worked to his advantage and to the point of producing as close a reconciliation as we have ever seen between Arabs and Jews.
So where to now? What time is it on the prophetic clock? The vatican have projected the dawn of the new millennium as the time for a one world religion with its headquarters at Jerusalem and the world recognising the other major city as Rome. Their calendar is marked to move inexorably in that direction. If John Paull II survives to the beginning of next year he would like to be the pontiff that sits on the One World Church throne in Jerusalem and quite frankly at this point in time it seems that the world and most of Christendom would accept him.
Isn't it interesting that the wife of Yasser Arafat and the wife of Chuck Coulson are both Roman Catholics?

[ Picture available ] Pope John Paull II sitting at an altar in Korazim, Israel. The backdrop depicts Christ with an open book that reads, "Love your enemies, I will come soon". Why an upside down cross? Some say it is a sign of martyrdom as Peter was crucified upside down. However the occult dictionary claims that the inverted cross is a blasphemy or mockery of the Christian cross.
