...when he's a liability!Y2K turned out to be the "fizzer" we suspected and others, such as Dave Hunt and Mike Claydon, predicted. So why did Texe Marrs, Chuck Missler and Barry Smith, in his latest book, "I Spy With My Little Eye" get it so wrong, and do their blunders make them False Prophets? BARRY, whom we respect as a genuine leading evangelist of our time, does not claim to be a prophet and readily acknowledges that sometimes his calculations and projections are wrong. He has unequivocally apologised for his mistakes in respect of Y2K and readily agreed to the interview, which we have published in CETF Vol 6.1So in spite of all the hype, it was A HAPPY NEW YEAR as usual, which we now belatedly wish to all our readers. Of course we are not into the new millennium and won't be until next January 1 by our calendar. There's no zero AD so the 2nd decade began at 11AD, the 2nd century at 101AD and the 2nd millennium at 1001AD. So January 1, 2001 will be the start of the 3rd millennium according to our calendar. Does it matter? Of course not, we dwell in time, God dwells in eternity, so back to the question of prophets and profits. All OT kings and priests were publicly anointed. Some prophets were and some weren't. This, on its own, illustrates the transient nature and calling of prophets and cautions us against those who so set themselves or others up. If it applied to a particular person once, it may not apply twice and it may not apply NOW. In the latest issue of VANGUARD (February 2000) Siam Bhayro tackled the issue head-on (pages 16 & 17), as a counter to the extreme cessationism, which says that God has spoken in scripture and won't speak today in any other way. This is clearly false and an attack on the immutability of God. You have to appeal to extra-biblical sources to argue this form of cessationism. The article explains why it's false from other perspectives. The point I want to make is that it is vitally important that we do hear the voice of God in the NOW for our own protection and progress as well as that of others.
