SPIRITUAL WARFARE# 1 letterI write this to express my gratitude for the article (sermon) "Spiritual Warfare as seen in the Beatitudes." Some years back after being somewhat disillusioned by other teaching on the subject of spiritual warfare, the LORD made it known to me that He would show me how. I do believe the LORD has blessed me to know much more through your words. The whole subject is once again alive to me. Also some years back I prayed for a horse I was taking care of which was quite ill. As soon as I prayed, the horse began a steady improvement and completely recovered. I guess that amazed me. In prayer I told the LORD, "Gee you would even heal a horse." In this moment of praise and worship I received this immediate promise. "Anything you ask of me - I will do it." What an awesome promise although I don't know if I have understood what to do with it. (For instance, I knew that I could not, despite the wording of the promise pray outside the faith for something and expect to receive it.) The Holy Spirit has used your sermon to demonstrate "how" I may use this promise for spiritual warfare. Suddenly my faith is soaring. I thank God for blessing you and I thank you for sharing it. Happy to be on the attack!GDG USA Ed: Thank you for your encouraging words. It is important to remember that God's promises are conditional. If we meet the condition, then He keeps the promise. In the case of the verse that you have quoted (John 14:14) the context reveals that the conditions which have to be met are 1) Complete Commitment to Christ signified by the words "believe on me" (verse 12); 2) Dwelling in Christ implied by the expression "ask in my name" (v 13 c/f John 15: 7 & 8); 3) Seeking only God's glory conveyed by the phrase "that the Father may be glorified in the Son" (v 13) (This also implies God's Sovereignty); and 4) Obeying Christ as Lord implied in the statement "If ye love me, keep my commandments." When these conditions are met even horses can be healed. I like your pun incidentally "Gee you would even heal a horse" Praise the Lord! #2 letterThe article you sent last night by Philip Powell was great. It spoke so personally to me. The two things he mentions about having the "character" of Christ as He preached to the twelve so described [ TOP ] Appeared in Volume 6.1 April 2000 |
