Christian Witness UK Convention
Bawtry Hall, Bawtry, Doncaster, South Yorkshire

The journey through the months from the October 2002 Convention held at Whitby seemed to take forever, or was that just me in my eagerness to renew again the sweet fellowship and hear again more of that very special teaching which we had gratefully received with the many new friends made at Sneaton Castle?
In the intervening months, the eagerness joined forces with a knowing expectation that something very special awaited the saints at Bawtry and the Lord most surely did not disappoint. He made this Convention a time we will never forget. We can only stand in awe of our lovely Saviour and give all Thanks, Praise, Honour and Glory to His lovely name.

The Fellowship:
It was so wonderful at last to be together again with ‘old friends’ and then to make many new friends. Praise the Lord!
We especially give thanks for the peaceful presence of the Holy Spirit among His saints, and for their willingness to mix so freely. The atmosphere was so relaxed and, because no meetings were scheduled in the afternoons, people spent more time getting to know one another. I felt that this benefited each of us and helped to make our stay at Bawtry Hall much more precious. So much so that when Friday lunchtime came around many, including myself, found it difficult to leave. It had been a real taste of heaven. Thank you folks — already I am missing you and eager for 2004. (Please book early!)
The Meetings:
The prayer meetings, which began at 7:30am, were only briefly interrupted by breakfast, for it seemed that at the beginning and end of each meeting the Lord led us into prayer speaking to us through the gift of prophecy.
These utterances turned every eye, heart and mind towards Jesus. The call was to draw nigh, walk much closer, watch more carefully as difficult days lie ahead, but alongside of these warnings came the promise of His continual presence and blessing. The Lord touched on and met many personal needs as He through His Spirit and faithful servants ministered among us. Many hearts melted and tears flowed, as He graciously blessed, comforted, and healed.
The Teaching:
I would encourage you to order a set of the taped messages very quickly as I suspect that these will go much quicker than the dear brother who took on this ministry can reproduce them! Who will ever be able to forget our dear brother Jacob Prasch’s opening message on ‘Returning to your first love’ (Rev 2:4). I have listened to Jacob many times now — awestruck but always blessed. But I would have to say this was Jacob on a new and higher plane. Blessed by the Holy Spirit, this message encouraged and moved every heart to recommit our lives afresh to our precious Saviour.
On Tuesday morning, Jacob returned to bless us again with more anointed teaching, before having to leave us for appointments in Africa.
Brother Philip Foster taught us in the evening on ‘Creation’ bringing out things old and new with a clarity that helped many to a clearer understanding of what can be a very difficult subject — surrounded as it is with so many differing views.
Philip next taught on the Letter to the Galatians, delighting everyone as he brought this letter to life with humour, wonderful explanations, and very apt quotes. I know that we will never read this letter again without thinking of his illustrations. First class teaching, these tapes are a must.
Roger Winter-Smith came and ministered at the first session on Wednesday morning and blessed us all afresh with his teaching on ‘Wisdom from on high’ (James 3 and Proverbs 4) It was an excellent message, deep, moving and thought provoking. I look forward to receiving the tapes to listen to this teaching again.
Jim Cottington ministered at the second session that morning, and brought a very challenging message, ‘Your crown awaits’, and had many on the edge of their seats as he preached this message from the Lord with great power. We look forward to hearing more from these two men.
Siam Bhayro’s teaching once again brought Scripture to life, expounding, exploring and revealing truths, which added to our knowledge and thrilled our hearts. His deep knowledge, wisdom and insight into the Word of God, underlines this young man’s calling to teach within the Body of Christ.
I must mention the staff of Bawtry Hall. These dear people worked hard and long to ensure our stay with them was unforgettable. The food, and the service were truly excellent. A big ‘Thank you’ to each. So to conclude... “And they said to one another, Was not our heart greatly moved and burning within us...”
This Second CWM Convention — was it worth the months of anxious waiting? Without doubt, it was that and much more. A tremendous success, a wonderful blessing, a very precious time, to me and everyone who I have spoken to about it since. Praise the Lord! (How are we to get through the next twelve months?)
To everyone who was involved — the speakers, musicians (fantastic), leaders, organisers - thank you!º We are more than grateful for your input and pray for your every blessing. I repeat I cannot wait for the next CWM Convention.
