SUMMARY:
God is working with and we are living under a covenant that was made over 200 years ago — the Mayflower Compact.
On board a tiny little ship sailing to the shores of this continent, a small band of men and women who had the glory of God in their bosom and a prayer of faith in their hearts sought a place where they would worship God in freedom.
These people entered into a covenant with God to establish the land of His dreams in the Name and in the blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Until that covenant is complete and ratified, the idea that God would wipe out this country or allow somebody to wipe it out is born out of ignorance of Him, ignorance of that covenant or both.

The Mayflower Compact
I NEVER planned on writing a seventh article *1 for the Kenneth Copeland Unmasked series; but after receiving Kenneth Copeland’s latest Believer’s Voice of Victory magazine, I feel I must.

As a result of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 Kenneth Copeland has frequently used in his publications and sermons the theme of the Spiritual Heritage of the United States.

In my previous article concerning Kenneth Copeland and prophecy, I quoted what Kenneth Copeland prophesied at his Washington, D.C. Victory Campaign (Oct 18, 2003), which I will now re-quote:
OCTOBER 18, 2003 – WASHINGTON, D.C. VICTORY CAMPAIGN (Extract Only)

Hallelujah. There are those com-ing from the east, coming from the west, coming from the north and the south.

From all directions to attack and to do harm to your homeland, and the place of your joy...

I am also the Spirit of Covenant. And I established long before your birth and long before the birth of your fathers and your forefathers — I established a covenant in this land and I will not, I will not, I will not let it go. And I will not, and I will not, and I will not let it down. And I will not, and I will not, and I will not forget My promise concerning this land of the Gospel.
For this place is Mine. And I have chosen to be here saith the Lord...

Copeland’s prophecies that America has a Covenant with God are potentially most damaging for Christians in the USA.
Following this quotation, I made the statement (emphasis added),

“Copeland’s teachings and prophecies saying that America has a Covenant with God IS, in my opinion, potentially most damag-ing for Christians in the United States. Word-Faith’s doctrines have dangerously watered down the sovereignty of God, and has concen-trated so hard on God’s attributes of love, grace and kindness, that they fail to remember and recognise that He is also Holy, Righteous and Judge!”

After reading Copeland’s article, “The Responsibility of the American Believer”

BVOV, November 2004), the issue of American’s “covenant with God” must be addressed specifically.
October 2002
In the October 2002 edition of Cope-land’s Believer’s Voice of Victory maga-zine, was the article, “Called to Attack Fear With Love — an interview with Kenneth Copeland”. In this interview, the following question was put to Kenneth:
BVOV: A lot has been said about judgement. Our enemy has said we’re under judgement by their god. And some of our religious leaders have said we’re under judgement by God who allowed this to happen. But you said we’ve been the judge-ment arm of God for over 100 years. Can you clarify this for us?

To which, Copeland replied,

KENNETH: ...God is working with and we are living under a covenant that was made over 200 years ago — the Mayflower Compact.

Individuals can bring destruction on themselves, their own families, their own environment and so forth. But when it comes to this nation, the first thing to remember is God is dealing with a covenant that was made aboard the Mayflower years ago that is still in effect.

“Called to Attack Fear With Love — an interview with Kenneth Cope-land”, BVOV, Oct 2002, (Emphasis Added.)

It is from the basis of this article that Kenneth Copeland has continued to deliver the theological doctrine of America’s Cov-enant with the God of the Bible.
February 2003
The February 2003 BVOV magazine included the article, “Spiritual Heritage: One Nation for the Glory of God”, in which Kenneth Copeland formalised this teach-ing.

Why did the Pilgrims come to America? What was in the heart of God concerning this place? If you want to know the truth about the founding of our nation, go back to its original documents and the cir-cumstances surrounding their crea-tion. The truth may surprise you...

In November 1620, a little ship called the Mayflower came to the shores of this continent. The people aboard had the glory of God and a prayer of faith in their hearts for a place where they could worship God in freedom. On board that vessel, these people entered into a covenant with God to establish the land of His dreams in the Name and in the blood of Jesus.

The Mayflower Compact is America’s first great constitutional document. It was signed in Cape Cod Bay before the ship’s inhabitants set foot on American soil. Here is some of what it proclaimed:

In the name of God, amen. We whose names are underwritten...Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia...

I always come back to this when I hear people predict the doom of the United States like they have been doing for more than 220 years. I want you to know something about this country — it may go through some hard knocks, but it’s not going to fail. I can tell you exactly why. It’s protected under the Mayflower Covenant — a covenant established in the blood of Jesus between the Pilgrims and God. Because of it, God has had mercy on this nation in spite of all of us.

Recently Gloria and I heard a statement made by a prophet of God — a powerful man of prayer from India. He said Jesus came to him in prayer one afternoon, and he asked, “Jesus, when are You going to judge America?” Jesus said, “I’m not. I have a covenant with them that was made on the Mayflower, and I remember that covenant...” Thank God, that covenant has saved this nation over and over...

Make no mistake about it, God is still going to have His dream and we’re part of it. The American dream is God’s dream — one nation under God filled with His glory.

“Spiritual Heritage: One Nation for the Glory of God”, BVOV, Feb 2003
(Emphasis Added.)
“The American dream is God’s dream — one nation under God

— K. Copeland

November 2004
To reinforce this doctrine, Copeland now says,

Today, many of America’s citizens wrestle with the intent of the found-ing fathers when they established this country. More than 200 years after the fact, people debate whether or not our nation was God-ordained. Well, anyone who knows God knows He established America on purpose. There’s no other nation like it on earth. There never has been and there never will be, at least not until other nations are able to place God in control like He is here.

His control of this country goes back to the beginning. There was a covenant made aboard the Mayflower ship, binding America and the Lord together. In the same way that the nation of Israel has a covenant with God, the United States does too. And just like He held every Jew responsible for how the nation of Is-rael responded to His prophets and His direction, He holds Christians responsible for America...

There is no government apart from God. At the founding of this country, God established a covenant with this nation. He or-dained it and He is still in control of it...

“The Responsibility of the American Believer”, BVOV, Nov 2004, p.8-10 (Emphasis Added.)
The Mayflower Compact
No one can deny that Copeland is emphatically saying that the United States of America has a covenant with the God of the Bible; a covenant equivalent to that of Old Testament Israel. The origin of this idea is the Mayflower Compact: an agreement put in writing by the men and women aboard the Mayflower when they finally reached America in 1620.

11 November 1620

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.

We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advance-ment of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid: And by Virtue hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitu-tions, and Officers, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general Good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due Submission and Obedience.

IN WITNESS whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape-Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scot-land the fifty-fourth, Anno Domini; 1620.

What does the Mayflower Compact say?
• in the Presence of God and one another
• covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick

Yes, the Mayflower Covenant is a covenant. But no, it is NOT a Covenant by God.

A covenant with God is instituted, and instigated, by God! No person can enter into a covenant with God unless he, or she, is invited to, by God. And the only covenant invitation to be made in the last 2000 years is the invitation known as the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To make the Mayflower Compact say what Kenneth Copeland wants it to say, Copeland was required to dissect it, and remove the context from this document. This is the modus operandi of Kenneth Copeland.

The Mayflower Compact is a covenant between men (and women) — acknowledging God’s presence — whilst it is being made. The very fact that God was, in effect, called to be a witness of this covenant, which is today well and truly broken, allows us to suggest that “God may well be judging, and has judged.”

Laws, in the United States, are not enacted today for “the Glory of God” or for “the advancement of the Christian faith”. Furthermore, the likes of the covenantal members of the Mayflower Compact, America’s founding fathers, and the writers of the Constitution would be ashamed to think that the freedoms and laws which they proposed and drafted would be so twisted that the United States of America is no longer a Christian country — but a secular country — where Christian principles are ridiculed and scorned.

The only thing Christian about America, is her heritage. In America today the phrase “In God We Trust” is subjective to who, or what, you think God is — be it Buddha, Allah, Shiva or any other god and pagan religion given “freedom” by a Constitution which is now anti–The True God of the Bible, antiRighteousness and antiJustice.

Kenneth Copeland’s theology stating that America has a covenant with God is an outrage. Copeland ascribes to God something that ONLY God can instigate — and which He did not.

In his article Copeland quotes Romans 13:1-3; which states,
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those, which exist, are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behaviour, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;Romans 13:1-3 (NAU)

But, contrary to this Scripture, which he quotes, Copeland goes on to say,
God showed me that the ungodly leaders in this country at that time were put in place because His people — Christians — chose them, either by voting for the ungodly or by not voting at all.
“The Responsibility of the American Believer”, BVOV, Nov 2004, p.9

Who has ordained the governments that have come to power, in America or any other country — be they good or bad, democratic or dictatorial? God has! God’s choice of government for the United States is NOT determined on the whim of Christian voters.
Copeland is like the LDS ... they have their “Book of Mormon” ... Copeland has his “May
Or, dare we say that Pharaoh (of Exodus 9, whom Moses confronted) came to power on his own behest? Or of Nebuchadnezzar, who also lost his crown (and sanity) only to regain it again! And even the rise of Mohammed, the Catholic Popes and even Adolf Hitler, all of whom have tried to annihilate the Jewish people from the face of the earth. Though their actions may not be ordained of God, their existence was and is. Even Sadam Hussein’s coming to power was ordained of God, just as George Bush’s was (whether or not God’s purpose for him was the ousting of Hussein2).

All governments and nations have their establishment in God, whether we like it or not. And in this sense America was indeed “Godordained”, just as Australia was, Germany was, and Tonga was. But where ISRAEL has a covenant with God, the United States of America does NOT.

This is one of the gravest of warnings for the citizens of America, concerning Kenneth Copeland and his false doctrine. He states that since America has a covenant with God, America can’t lose. This is a repeat of the presumption of the false prophets down throughout history, prophesying only good, and NOT hearing the voice of the Almighty.

“Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, at the threshing ?oor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them. Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, ‘Thus says the LORD, With these you will gore the Arameans until they are consumed.’ All the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, ‘Go up to Ramothgilead and prosper, for the LORD will give it into the hand of the king’.

Micaiah said, Therefore, hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramothgilead?’ And one said this while another said that. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him’. The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets’. Then He said, ‘You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so’. Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has proclaimed disaster against you.

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, ‘How did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak to you?’ Micaiah said, ‘Behold, you shall see on that day when you enter an inner room to hide yourself’” (1 Kings 22:10-12, 19-25 NAU).

Copeland, like Zedekiah, does not hear the voice of God. America does NOT have a covenant with God. Copeland has gone the way of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; and where the Mormons have their extrabiblical “Book of Mormon”, Copeland has the “Mayflower Compact”.

Beware America! Beware Australia! Beware those to whom Kenneth Copeland’s teachings reach! When the AntiChrist comes to power, he will not have a tail, and hold a pitchfork. He will be charismatic, and he will be popular. And not forgetting that he has his False Prophet, who woos the masses. Copeland may not be THE false prophet, but he is ALL the false prophet and false teacher we need.
