Who have not bowed the knee?

TWO events held earlier this year in Australia, plus the projected Conference in Britain (see page 3), could foreshadow an exciting new chapter of missionary and evangelistic endeavour in the history of Christian Witness Ministries (CWM). In January a multi-national group of churches held a weekend of camp meetings and invited Philip Powell as guest speaker. Some exiting things happened including a bush setting water baptism – see report and photos on this page and page 2. As a result of the first CWM Conference, held in Melbourne in March, there are now 19 different groups and ministries networking with CWM throughout Australia. Peter Featherston, an elder of the Christian Way Church Ballarat, Victoria has provided a report of the conference, which follows and which we trust will whet appetites to attend the Gathering of the Faithful Remnant Conference in Britain – October 21 to 25. With this renewed emphasis in mind we would alert our readers to watch for the following “prophetic signs”, which we sense will occur in the on-going conflict that is being orchestrated by Satan between the genuine and the false within the Pentecostal structure:

• The latter day Sanhedrin will oppose the emergence of the true, just as their Jewish counterparts did at the dawn of Christianity:
• Complacent and compromising Christianity is deceived and will end up being destroyed – see Roger Winter-Smith’s article – pages 4 to 6.
• Temptation is part of God’s plan to mature His people but this is not an excuse for failure – see Philip Foster’s Lead Us Not into Temptation –
• The house of Saul will always oppose the house of David – see Jacob Prasch’s article pages 15 to 20.
• The contaminated house will be torn down so that the disease won’t spread – see Siam Bhayro’s article on the leprous house – pages 21 to 23.
• The Church will come under attack from various quarters, but must respond to each challenge, be it those evil doers in its midst _ HOUSTONS UN-MASKED by Philip Powell _ pages 24 to 32, or those who attack its truths from the outside _ SPONG UNMASKED by Spencer Gear _ pages 10 to 14.

Multi-National Churches' Camp, Sydney

Italian, Assyrian, Portuguese and Anglo-Australians met in the Lower Blue Mountains (NSW) for a combined churches camp in late January, 2002.
The organisers had asked guest speaker Philip Powell to take something that was devotional so he spoke five times on our RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST using John 15:7 and 8 as a foundation for all five messages. On Saturday night a young Italian man made a decision for Christ and was baptised the next day along with another young Italian man who had made a prior arrangement to be baptised. Sunday was a great day.
Both Assyrian pastors (from Iraq) had been imprisoned for their faith prior to coming to Australia. One is called Abraham and the other Isaac, so there was some fun regarding their names. The Australian, Italian and Assyrian pastors were previously linked to Assemblies of God but broke away on account of the error and heresies that exist in the Australian AoG. They are all great brothers in the Lord.
A young man who belongs to the Portuguese Church had a very serious motorcycle accident four months previously just weeks after he arrived in Australia. His immediate family and friends all live in Brazil so he has no one to support him in Australia apart from the Church who ministered to him in hospital. He gave a glowing testimony about how the Church is his family and now he has met many more family members through the Camp. Unfortunately his pastor was unable to attend, as he and his family were about to move to another area of ministry.
Please pray for Daniel, the young man who sustained the accident as a result of which he was in a coma for several weeks and has lost the use of one arm and hand. God can heal him. Please also pray that the Portuguese Church will quickly find a good replacement pastor.
