How to start a new fellowship/church

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any godly advice regarding how to start a new fellowship. My husband and I have been in home groups for the last 12 years or so – our history prior to that had been 12 years in Pentecostal churches. The home groups all came to an end for various reasons: the first one ended because the host couple went back to a denominational church so that their children would have Christian friends to grow up with; while the last home group only lasted a couple of months as the host said her circumstances had changed and she couldn’t host them anymore. That was around December 2010. My hubby and I would happily host meetings in our home but we have 2 big-ish problems: we can only fit around 6 people in our front room comfortably as it’s so small (which isn’t a problem ...

Benny Hinn’s Wife Sues for Divorce

A recent email I received from the UK states:"Word of Faith's brightest star and most well-known advocate, Benny Hinn, is getting a divorce.  Hinn's wife, Suzanne, filed for divorce on February 1, 2010 in Los Angeles.  Hinn and his wife had been married for more than 30 years.  The reason?  Irreconcilable differences.  "That wasn't one of the conditions Jesus gave for justifiably seeking a divorce.  But, since divorce is an epidemic in our church, we clearly see that many Christians don't follow the commands of Jesus regarding divorce. It will be interesting to hear any public statement Hinn makes about this."   _____________________________________________________________   My only time of controversy in all my recent preaching in India was when I mentioned Benny Hinn.  A dear couple, who are leaders at the AoG in Delhi, where I was speaking objected as did two other dear ladies, one of whom claimed healing as a result of touching the TV ...

Gathering the Faithful Remnant

Increasing numbers of people are heeding the trumpet call to "Come out from among them." Some who have left the decadent and apostate movements and denominations in "spirit" are remaining within for various reasons. Among these is the very valid desire to reach out and influence others who are enmeshed in the system. We at CWM recognise the legitimacy and in fact the wisdom of this. However we believe that everyone MUST be careful not to be overtaken by error or coldness by staying in too long. Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Prophesying today.

What a wonderful opportunity we have to preach the gospel today. The last few years have appeared as though we are really living in Revelation 6 as the Twin Towers destruction in New York saw “peace taken from the earth” like never before. Communism never appeared as such a great threat, though we have lived in its shadow for as long as I can remember. Living in “fortress Australia” has allowed me to see this more clearly. Australians are a proudly independent people who see themselves as isolated from the world’s troubles, and their politicians preach it. I recall being told the things we heard so often happening in other parts of the world, “Will never happen in Australia.” Yet, today Australia finds itself greatly affected by the Twin Towers fallout, worldwide drought and famine, and the now global financial collapse. Spiritual Drunkenness

EDITORIAL COMMENT: As I read this article by Bill Randles the similarity is remarkable between this phenomena and the Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls' motto "Lose your mind and come to your senses" , which was absorbed as a mantra by the hippie movement of the 1960s-1970s. It highlights our concern at what is being unleashed in parts of the Church in the guise of "a move of the Spirit" yet disregards that we are called to be always loving God with ALL of our mind and soul, as well as our heart (Matthew 22:37-40). A/G-USA - Doctrinal Death Dilemma Assemblies of God was established originally as a fellowship of autonomous churches (assemblies) in voluntary association for the purposes of worship, evangelism and mission. Our founders and forefathers strongly resisted any denominational tag. They resented the application of the word, arguing that Assemblies of God was a movement not a denomination. Gradually, through the ambitions of carnal, self seeking leaders and an overemphasis on hierarchical structure, local autonomy has been over-ridden. National expressions of the denomination in USA, UK and Australasia and a number of other regions and countries, have effectively become fellowships of ministers not of assemblies.
