How to start a new fellowship/church

13 April 2011 – 6:28 am
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any godly advice regarding how to start a new fellowship. My husband and I have been in home groups for the last 12 years or so – our history prior to that had been 12 years in Pentecostal churches. The home groups all came to an end for various reasons: the first one ended because the host couple went back to a denominational church so that their children would have Christian friends to grow up with; while the last home group only lasted a couple of months as the host said her circumstances had changed and she couldn’t host them anymore. That was around December 2010. My hubby and I would happily host meetings in our home but we have 2 big-ish problems: we can only fit around 6 people in our front room comfortably as it’s so small (which isn’t a problem ...

Benny Hinn’s Wife Sues for Divorce

19 February 2010 – 3:19 pm
A recent email I received from the UK states:"Word of Faith's brightest star and most well-known advocate, Benny Hinn, is getting a divorce.  Hinn's wife, Suzanne, filed for divorce on February 1, 2010 in Los Angeles.  Hinn and his wife had been married for more than 30 years.  The reason?  Irreconcilable differences.  "That wasn't one of the conditions Jesus gave for justifiably seeking a divorce.  But, since divorce is an epidemic in our church, we clearly see that many Christians don't follow the commands of Jesus regarding divorce. It will be interesting to hear any public statement Hinn makes about this."   _____________________________________________________________   My only time of controversy in all my recent preaching in India was when I mentioned Benny Hinn.  A dear couple, who are leaders at the AoG in Delhi, where I was speaking objected as did two other dear ladies, one of whom claimed healing as a result of touching the TV ...

Gathering the Faithful Remnant

17 October 2008 – 12:29 am
Increasing numbers of people are heeding the trumpet call to "Come out from among them." Some who have left the decadent and apostate movements and denominations in "spirit" are remaining within for various reasons. Among these is the very valid desire to reach out and influence others who are enmeshed in the system. We at CWM recognise the legitimacy and in fact the wisdom of this. However we believe that everyone MUST be careful not to be overtaken by error or coldness by staying in too long. Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you - 2nd Corinthians 6: 17 (NKJV). Ultimately the biblical mandate is clear, --Come out from among them--the present danger is stated,--Do not touch what is unclean--the method of escape is explained--And be separate--and the end result is promised--I (the Lord) will receive you. THE ...

Prophesying today.

12 October 2008 – 4:00 pm
What a wonderful opportunity we have to preach the gospel today. The last few years have appeared as though we are really living in Revelation 6 as the Twin Towers destruction in New York saw “peace taken from the earth” like never before. Communism never appeared as such a great threat, though we have lived in its shadow for as long as I can remember. Living in “fortress Australia” has allowed me to see this more clearly. Australians are a proudly independent people who see themselves as isolated from the world’s troubles, and their politicians preach it. I recall being told the things we heard so often happening in other parts of the world, “Will never happen in Australia.” Yet, today Australia finds itself greatly affected by the Twin Towers fallout, worldwide drought and famine, and the now global financial collapse. A people who saw no reason to fear are ...

Spiritual Drunkenness

18 August 2008 – 1:36 am
EDITORIAL COMMENT: As I read this article by Bill Randles the similarity is remarkable between this phenomena and the Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls' motto "Lose your mind and come to your senses" , which was absorbed as a mantra by the hippie movement of the 1960s-1970s. It highlights our concern at what is being unleashed in parts of the Church in the guise of "a move of the Spirit" yet disregards that we are called to be always loving God with ALL of our mind and soul, as well as our heart (Matthew 22:37-40). Read and pray! www.christian-witness.org/pdf/thesickenssuntodeath1.pdf

Pentecostalism is it biblical or just part of the Con?

5 July 2008 – 1:39 am
The initial correspondence below arose from a reading of Philip Powell’s article which is also available as an hyperlinked Word Document on request from CWM. Statement by Philip L. POWELL: I have met a number of former Pentecostals who have turned away from the faith of their fathers or of their own youth and have renounced everything associated in any way with Pentecostal teaching and practice on account of the extremes of our time. The movements known as the “Toronto Blessing” and/or the “Pensacola Outpouring” with the outlandish manifestations plus the TV “con artists” such as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and many others like them, have made major contributions to this state of affairs. We at Christian Witness Ministries (CWM) sympathise with the sentiments of those who have rejected everything associated with “Pentecost” so why then do we still hold fast to Pentecostal tenets of faith? The following is an email which was ...

SO THE PLAGUE WAS STAYED… (Num 25:8) SO THE LORD WAS ENTREATED… AND THE PLAGUE WAS STAYED … (2 Sam 24:25).

3 June 2008 – 3:47 am
By Philip L. POWELL - http://www.cwmfellowship.org; http://www.christian-witness.org That a spiritual plague has broken out in the Church there can be little doubt. It is everywhere. The True Church is being decimated while the false Church multiplies through Church Growth, sensational appeal to the so called supernatural and by other means. The most recent demonic expression of The Plague is manifest through Todd Bentley and his so called Florida Healing Revival, the latest disclosures about which reveal it as a conception from hell to take the “ministry” into expressions of violence. Every PLAGUE among God’s ancient people was caused by five things which Paul alludes to in 1st Corinthians 10:5-14 - LUST, IDOLATRY, IMMORALITY, TEMPTING GOD, and RESENTFUL MURMURING. There Paul tells us that the record of these things are “for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” In other words they relate to OUR time—the END TIMES. The prophetic ...

Todd Bentley - The New Simon Magus, By: Pastor Bill Randles

25 May 2008 – 8:55 pm
"But there was a certain man called Simon... claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying,"this man is the great power of God." And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time." Acts 8:9-11 Todd Bentley is great! If you don't believe me just ask the multitudes who have been astonished by the "miraculous revival" in Lakeland Florida! Or just check out the Christian television show "Xtreme Prophetic" featuring Host Patricia King, which I saw on YouTube. Bentley was featured on the show as one of the new prophets of the younger generation. Patricia King the host spoke for many when she proclaimed Todd as an "awesome man of power who is a Seer'. She also announced that Todd has brought "a million people into the Kingdom of God in the last eight ...

AoG-USA - Doctrinal Death Dilemma

7 December 2007 – 6:19 am
A/G-USA - Doctrinal Death Dilemma Assemblies of God was established originally as a fellowship of autonomous churches (assemblies) in voluntary association for the purposes of worship, evangelism and mission. Our founders and forefathers strongly resisted any denominational tag. They resented the application of the word, arguing that Assemblies of God was a movement not a denomination. Gradually, through the ambitions of carnal, self seeking leaders and an overemphasis on hierarchical structure, local autonomy has been over-ridden. National expressions of the denomination in USA, UK and Australasia and a number of other regions and countries, have effectively become fellowships of ministers not of assemblies. This inevitably leads to modern day Nicholaitanism<!--[if !supportFootnotes]-->[1]<!--[endif]-->, which in turn leads to modern day Baalamism<!--[if !supportFootnotes]-->[2]<!--[endif]-->. False doctrine always leads to immoral living and vice versa. The two work hand in hand actually feeding on each other. AG-USA stood for a number of years at the cross roads. ...
