AUSTRALIA - A Nation in Change but NOT in Prophecy

December 3, 2007 – 4:40 am

1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long do you halt between two opinions? if the LORD {who is the GOD of the true prophets} [is] God, follow him: but if Baal {who is the god of the false prophets}, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

1Ki 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

Today we do not put false prophets to the sword, nor do we stone them as was commanded in Old Testament times. However we should do the spiritual equivalent i.e. cut them off from God’s people.

Col Stringer here whom Peter Hogan, Senate candidate in the recent Australian federal election here alleges is a plagiarist, evangelical impostor and crook here has failed to do anything to counter that view by carrying out a postmortem on the recent Australian Federal election with words that must make all intelligent Christians laugh. He shows that he himself is a false teacher and a promoter of false prophets. Kenneth Copeland whom Stringer leans on is a proven false prophet.

As a Christian as well as an Australian citizen I have great problems with the grandiose claims about Australia’s place in God’s scheme of things. Most of the claims, including those in Stringer’s book 800 Horsemen, here must be based on a re-write of history.

We also need to wake up to the misnomer of Australia as the “Great South Land of the Holy Spirit” which was a name given by Pedro Fernandez de Quiros here in 1606 not to Australia but mistakenly to Vanuatu (New Hebrides) here. De Quiros was sailing under the Spanish flag and typically claimed the lands he discovered for the Roman Catholic see. The name “Terra Australis del Espiritu Santu” - the “Great South Land of the Holy Spirit” has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with anything prophetic then, now or into the future. Matters that are truly prophetic are NOT related to the Roman Catholic Church and prophets do not make mistakes when they speak under the inspiration of God. It was a big mistake to mix Vanuatu with Australia. While I accept Smith Wigglesworth was a man used by God I am aware of the fact that many legends about him are just that - legends. One that I have never been able to find authentic support for is the claim that he prophesied that the final great revival would emanate from Australia and New Zealand, as Col Stringer claims here

If Wigglesworth did prophesy any such thing then he was a false prophet as the Bible predicts a great end-time apostasy not a great revival. In fact it is predicated upon the notion that Australia (and New Zealand) will initiate a great end time revival that we have all of this false Church growth based upon a false gospel related to music and money. It is simply consumerism adapted to Christianity and it is contributing to the end time falling away.

What follows in black is Col Stringer’s take on the recent Australian election and his attempt to justify the false prophecies of Copeland, Nalliah and himself. The words in red are the excellent responses by our fellow contender for the faith, Mike Claydon. ( Read about Daniel Nalliah and Catch the Fire here, here and here )

FROM COL STRINGER  in black type, with interactions by Mike Claydon IN RED

 G’day folks

I guess like so many other Christians you were surprised or disappointed at the election outcome. The first thing that came to my mind was ‘what happened’? It was simply an expression of the will of the people who voted one government out and another one in. As you know several well known prophetic voices believed that they had heard from the Lord as to the outcome and while I never prophecied (sic) the outcome myself, I did forward one on from Kenneth Copeland. In doing that you endorsed this heretic and his ministry!

So what happened? You foolishly listened to a false prophet? How did I miss reading the signals so badly? You are a very ‘deceived’ man? Did the prophets miss it? Of course! Did we not pray? Yes, but your silly prayers went unheard and unheeded. Was the Church not united on the issue - well that part was obviously true. The church was widely divided on the issue. I humbly apologise for any confusion that I may have caused by misreading the issue. But let me (sic) honest - I simply dont know! I would love to have the answer, but I don’t, I’m not God (fortunately). That’s for sure!!!

So where do we go from here? Where do YOU go you mean? Well I believe we need to move on. Yep, push it under the carpet and MOVE ON to further apostasies. I plan to get behind our new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, to uphold him and the new government in prayer! I’ll bet he is really pleased to hear this? This week I received a message from a young pastor, below is part of that email.“……We have had prophetic words concerning the re-election to government of John Howard and the Coalition. This has not happened as we see it now. Does that mean that these prophetic voices are false? No, it does not! Eh??? Get a life? Time and time again in the Word of God we have seen God proclaim through the mouth of His prophets His will and yet His people did not obey. Our fault again I see?

There has been an apathy in the church, despite the call to “Arise”. People have decided to “have a change” much like many have done with church, jumping from one thing to the next to see what is better! Well now we need to pray. If you have been apathetic about these elections, then wake up! Ah, what if Christians just happened to prefer a Rudd government?

Our Bible mandate is to pray for the Government, to pray for our Prime Minister, and that we will, with fervent effectual prayer. The church is the spiritual government of this nation [?] and it is only the fear (reverent awe) of God that will employ wisdom to lead……..” (end of quote).

Firstly, we need to express our sincere thanks to our former Prime Minister John Howard for the awesome job he did. Really? I believe the prayers of Christians helped achieve that result. Now we need to honour him as he steps down. He leaves the nation in a very strong position, something many people are very quick to forget and dismiss! OK - but what, as a Christian, do you feel about a man that told Israel that she was being ‘unhelpful’ last year, when she dared to defend herself against Islamic missiles?

Secondly, as I said before, I for one plan to do what God’s Word instructs us to do, pray for the new leaders of my nation. I will be praying for their wisdom, guidance and an open heart to hear the Lord. I will be praying that Australia - South land of the Holy Spirit, [?] will continue on the course the Lord has set for us. As Acts 17: 26-27 says: “And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes).”Thirdly, I believe that we can all learn from this. Hopefully you, Danny and Kenneth will? Now we need to be filling ourselves with the Word of God as never before. That is true - seemingly you have not done this before? We need to be confessing His Word, His blessing and favour over our land as never before and listening to His voice. Col, you have to make sure it is God’s voice you are hearing in future days? No other voice but the voice of the Good Shepherd!

Certainly that is what I plan to be doing. That will make a pleasant change for us all.

  2. The man Danny Nalliah got it ( the election ) entirely wrong . Why ? , because Danny Nalliah only heard his own thoughts and voice , NOT God’s thoughts and voice .. Would you people at Catch the Fire Ministry please catch the next bus departing from Canberra and go home .

  3. Danny Nalliah has tried to justify the failure of his so-called prophetic word. Rather than repent he tries to excuse himself by casting the blame on others.
He confirms himself as a false prophet and will receive a false prophets reward: such as the reward reaped by Paul Cain, Ted Haggard and his own idol Frank Houston.
Isn’t it ironic that he criticizes Kevin Rudd and the Labor party regarding their position on homosexual relationships and yet he himself publicly honours the homosexual paedophile Frank Houston?

It’s time for Mr Nalliah to humble himself and turn to God before he too follows the course of the above mentioned false ministers. The results of turning against God are revealed in Romans 1. An increase in homosexuality is one such outcome.
I wonder if it’s coincidental that so many false ministers “fall into” that particular area of sin.

  4. I do continue to amaze myself of the hatred of other Christians shown by this site as you give me the impression you would sue and revel in the death and destruction of your own, but whether Christians are your own is another story as I am not even sure anyone on this site is saved.

By Clay on Dec 7, 2007

  5. Thank you Clay for writing. The Bible tells us to “examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith”. So let me ask you, “How do you know that you are saved?” Salvation is of the Lord not of you or me. We are told that the Lord knows those who are His and then it goes on to say that those who name the name of Christ should “depart from evil”. We on this site endeavour to do that and as a result we have the “witness” as the Bible puts it that we belong to Him.

No we don’t hate anyone and no we would NOT sue any Christian. Please feel free to respond.

    God bless you.

  6. Hi Col, just wondering if you could help me out with this one? If Israel is God’s own possession and Australia belongs to the Holy Spirit (great south land….) what country does Jesus get?

ps; maybe you could claim Tasmania for him - (just a thought?)
    Thanks…

  7. I believe in NT prophecy but I am not convinced that it is predictive for the nation or anyone else as has been demonstrated with Danny Nulliah’s false prophecy about the Australian election.

According toe I Cor. 14, NT prophecy is meant for the local assembly of God’s people:

    1. For the upbuilding and encouragement and consolation of God’s people (v. 4);

    2. If an unbeliever is present in the church gathering, he is convicted and called to account (v. 24) because the secrets of his heart have been disclosed. This will cause him to fall on his face and worship God and this unbeliever will declare that God is among us.

    3. When the prophets speak in the assembly, the “message” is “weighed” by others in the assembly (v. 29).

There is a good reason why NT prophecy is for the assembly and only for the gathering of God’s people — to “weigh” the kind of information conveyed in the Nulliah prophecy.

Danny’s prophecy was not for the upbuilding and encouragement and consolation of God’s people because it was false, and in my view, out of order in its function.

“So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues, but all things should be done decently and in order” (vv. 39-40).

May the Lord help us to understand the place and content of NT prophecy.

    Sincerely in Christ.

  8. Clay,

Ill write this again as it appears my post has not made it to the Forum.
You wrote: “I am not even sure anyone on this site is saved.”
What criteria do you use to determine if anyone is a Christian and by extension, the people who write on this site?
    Sincerely

  9. The latest news letter from mr Nalliah is trumpeting the fact that he received a nomination to be “Australian of the Year”.

Is there any end to him glorying in the recognition given by man? Is this the type of response Jesus said His disciples could expect? Did He promise praise and honour from the world?

My bible promises the complete opposite.

  10. It seems to me after many years of consideration that when a person becomes a Christian, one of the first things that happens is ‘the flesh’ christianizes itself and begins to imitate the voice of God, and deceives the person (if they let it) that they are hearing from God when in reality it is originating only from within themselves.

And when that person is ambitious to become somebody spiritual and knows nothing of the work of the Holy Spirit, whose desire is to bring that ambition and voice to the foot of the cross to test it, and to bring it into death, they only see it as the work of the enemy and reject it.

Because we have had such a cross-less Christianity take over so many of our Churches, there is now a great multitude of so called “spiritual” people giving words and making prophesies and somehow thinking they are serving God when the thing is just a bunch of nonsense.

No wonder the Jewish people are not provoked to Jealousy because they see the Church with the gift first meant for them. No wonder the general public are being turned off Christianity in their droves because of the fraud it is.

I myself think that such things will melt during the first days of the coming fire of persecution and the participants and adherents will end up in great confusion and loss, because their seemingly great and self confident faith fails them under pressure.

    Unbelief comes in many disguises!

  11. Hey, has anyone seen the Col Stringer website? www.colstringer.com
I nearly fell off my chair I was laughing so much. Please ponder this scripture after you read his website home-page. (try not to laugh too hard)
“……. and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world.” 1 John 2:16

I really don’t mean to be rude Col, but a “theological numbscull” is the only expression I can think of to describe someone who is so biblically illiterate - sorry mate! God Bless you.

  12. Our purpose in exposing the blatant inaccuracies in Col Stringer’s 800 Horsemen book is to warn genuine Christians not to get hooked with grandiose claims, especially those of the Word of Faith movement. We recommend that you subscribe for our free hard print magazine by emailing your name and postal address to maureen@christian-witness.org ASAP. If you do so in time you will receive CETF issue No # 44 which will contain our articles “Rewriting the Bible and our History” and “God was at Beersheba when our Light Horsemen Charged–but Col Stringer wasn’t”. There are lots of other interesting articles by international writers. This is a truly PROPHETIC issue of CETF.

    We value your prayers.

  13. It only goes to show that ‘My Kingdom is not of this world’ statement is ringing true more and more as history and time moves on. There is not one government in this world that begins to line up with this statement, and so we cannot put our trust in any government. How come then we have so many people who prophesy regarding Governments that seem to imply that they are God’s agent? They misunderstand what Paul says in Romans ch. 13, I think.

By Michael Lampard on Apr 26, 2008

  14. “All prophecy must be tested.” Use the Bible. There will be great end time apostasy, but also evangelism as “the reaper overtakes the sower”. Jesus refers to conversions and “reaping”.

Also the Book of Revelation describes a great crowd from many nations, and some that overcame by the blood and preferred to die rather than lose their testimony.

Tradition is not according to the book of Acts, and we need revival, as did Israel so many times, and their next conversion back to God also must be.

  16. Re: Australia being “the land of the Holy Spirit”.
Yes, we did have convicts who came, not a very bad thing as it turned out - and yes, in the early days, there were good ministers of religion of all denominations and churches - non Pentecostal.
Even when Pentecost came, it made a mere dint in the spiritual clime of the country.
In 1959 when we went into the ministry with AoG, the town we were in, population 500 to 900, held a meeting to get rid of us! However, the new converts so affected the town that the denominational churches suddently became full of so-called worshippers who had not been attending. They had heard bad rumours re Van Eyck, from Gympie.
    Then we pastored in Mareeba.
I have to contribute this fact, that the country towns of Australia were indeed most godless.
It was not until Billy Graham came that there was a slight change.
Since the charismatic move in Australia, we have seen, yes, very many accept Christ - but on what foundation one may ask. However, since this occurred, from the mid 1960s, and then continuing to increase over the following decades, there has been nothing but confusion, errors, heresies, lack of a true gospel and an influx of very wrong influence from American writers and tele-evangelists. One can barely find a good sermon preached on any T.V. channel.
Land of the Holy Spirit? A misnomer!
Wanting revival? What, may I ask, is there left of Truth to be revived?

By Irene Bonney Faulkes on Jun 25, 2008

  17. The ‘church’ as a whole in Australia is apostate. That includes the so called ‘discernment’ ministries that fail to see their own error, who are hypocrites in that they bash other people and biblical truth.
