I was a kid in the 1970's in New Zealand.
We ALL [catholics, protestants, etc] knew that Frank houston and his 'church'were really weird...with a lot of strange things happening with young people and to keep away. I didn't know until years later that Hillsong australia would be the end result. I hear people saying 'don't you judge him'...God forgave him'. When? Was anybody there? I don't condemn B.Houston for his fathers'sins...but i do condemn him for covering it up! "Ye shall know the tree from it's fruit"...hillsong is the fruit of Frank Houston and his warped sexuality.

With regard to getting notified of new posts the best way is to subscribe to the RSS feed which is on the right hand side of the screen. The recipient then needs a RSS reader to read these feeds

Dear Brother in Christ,

WISH YOU A HAPPY CHRISTMAS
Christmas greetings to you in the name of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ. My heartily greetings to you and your family. Here we are regularly praying for you and your welfare. I immense pleasure introduces my self as gospel worker, I am Pastor D.S. babu working from the last 15 years in the interior villages where the Gospel not yet been proclaimed. We are working in the hill and un-evangelized villages of our nation. Many people had been receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

In our great nation of India, millions of people are dying every day. Among them, millions of people are dying due to many reasons without knowing the name of Jesus Christ even for one time in their lives. And millions of people are slipping into eternity without knowing Saviour. There are so many un-reached and un-evangelized places in our Country. India is a land plagued with great starvation and disease, a land where idol worship and false doctrine prevails among its billion inhabitants, a land desperate the Word of God.

God has given me a lot of burden to reap the harvest. So, I need your fellowship and encouragement - Mt 9:37, Jn 4:35, 36, 2Tim 4:5. I am willing to be as a representative on behalf of you. Let us work together to win the lost souls at any cost and fill the gap. - Ps 133:1, 1Jn 1:3.

If your kind heart responds to take part in our Great task of God, please make a plan to visit India according to Mk 16:15 in your convenient dates. I am kindly requesting you to prepare yourself to visit India with your heart touching and life changing messages. I hope you and your loved ones will be able to visit India as I am expecting God to give ‘a great outpouring of His miracle power to meet every need.’ Therefore, Humbly I am requesting you again and again to come and see God’s work in India and Snatch the perishing souls from the fire and save them - Jude 23, Mt 28:18-20.

We will conduct the pastors conference to equip them with your leadership messages.

Convey my best heartful wishes to each one of your family. Continuously, we are praying for you and waiting for your love and kindness. Please share some of your bread with our Nation - Prov 22:9.

Whatever you do for Jesus and the gospel, God will give you 100 fold reward (Heb 6:10, Luke 6:35)
Thank you for investing into the souls

Same-sex marriage in Australia ?

This week saw Queensland introduce Civil Unions as legal in this state. Today saw the national Australian Labor Party change their policy to 'allow' same-sex marriages, though not all Labor politicians are in favour of this at all. By allowing for a conscience vote our Prime Minister has averted the large defection that would necessarily occur with 'crossing the floor' when Parliament votes on this in the future, her only option in her present tenuous hold on Australia's national government.

It's time for Christ's followers to speak up - and visit their Members of Parliament and Senators who are not in Canberra now that parliament is in recess. It's time for our representatives to hear our views so that they can represent us truthfully.

Hello Novation,
Yes I use e-sword. It is quite a thing to be able to access all those translations and books free of charge.
I also use The Word which is another free resource.
I like the Barnes' commentary series on the bible. It is recommended via the college I studied with. The e-sword only provides a greatly abreviated version though.
It is heartening to find that a lot of the older works are now in reprint and are a fraction of the cost they were originally sold at.
For instance the 36 volumes of the Pre and Ante Nicean and early church fathers was around $1500. This is now availiable at $280 from my suppliers in the USA. I am wading through it.
This is a plus for those continuing in theological studies as resorces are an enormous cost along with college fees!!

I don't know if advertising is acceptable on this blog but I deal a lot with CBD Bibles and Bible assessories in the USA. they stock Young's Literal and just about everything at prices a fraction of the Australian costs.
Some of my priest friends use the Book Depository as well.

It is great to find that these resources are open to one and all I think. With such freely availiable information now I guess there is just no excuse to be ill informed on Religious matters.

All the best,
Bro Kevin.

Dear Terry,
You have made a very good point there.

A lot of the "American" books tend to suggest we need to see our "Therapist" every wednesday evening to keep our "S@*t" together.

This in fact is a very American style which permeates much of the christian feel good books.
However this is not really part of our Australian Culture. Consider that a Therapist could cost up to $200 per hour!!!

You will notice also that a great deal of the Koorong christian romance books are "Fixated" on cute, hot Amish babes. God knows what that is all about. That is neither Main stream American and certainly not Australian.

You've hit the nail on the head: follow the Scriptures. Ecclessiastes, Wisdom of Ben Sirach, Proverbs and the like.

The more I look at "Lifestyle" advise from the Bible the more "Basic" commonsense it appears to me.
God has given us reason, feelings, fellowship and friendship.

A lot of these new trendy books make some one a great deal of money I'm sure.

God Bless.

That is a very extreme response by them, isn't it. That kind of behaviour really does hurt.

This book is often used in conjunction with Bible studies for brothers & sisters who have grown up in homes where they never learnt respectful assertiveness. It is not the final say on these issues but is very helpful in working through some of the issues involved in being assertive Christianly, in my opinion.

One observation of the changes that occur when people are freed from a habitual way of relating is that they can experience a "pendulum effect" where they go to the reverse of where they'd been functioning previously. And instead of clarifying what their personal boundaries are, in practice they actually build walls. Not a healthy situation at all, and one in which it can be possible for the person who's had "the lights turned on" about this matter to become quite self-centred and focussed on maintaining self-comfort. This in turn leads one to avoid those uncomfortable relationships with misfits, etc - and avoids some aspects of our discipleship of following Jesus Christ the Lord. However, not all people respond to this in the same way and many keep it well in the balance of walking as a disciple.

As with many programs in Christian groups, the Boundaries series has been treated in many as a cure-all or solve-all. It is not that. Yet it even attracts people who are quite assertive already and unfortunately when the person is not Spirit-controlled the 'flesh' takes over and boundaries are created and maintained in the power of the 'flesh'. This can become manifest in aggressiveness, rather than assertiveness.

I'm sure the Lord is not glorified in all the new ways of relating that some trainees adopt and imbibe, particularly such extreme ones as you've related above. Have you tried communicating what effect their approach is having on you?

May the Lord bless you Terry.
