THE RISE OF THE PENTECOSTAL CHURCHES AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND THEM.
Ive always maintained that if one had a focus in life to become materially wealthy the first thing he should do is state that he is a Christian, the second thing he should do is get the word Reverend before his name and the third thing is to go into the church business by giving the customers what they want to see what they want to feel and what they want to hear.
Then tell the customers that God requires at least 10% of their pre-tax income.
Before long Id have a big house (or more) a big car (or more) and possibly a jet to carry my anointing around in.
The beaut thing about this business is that its all tax free!

LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF

Letters to the Editor
Business Review Weekly
Dear Editor,
I am a former Assemblies of God minister who left the movement because
of the kind of false teaching that you highlighted in "God's
Millionaires" (BRW May 26-June1). These high-flying, materialistic,
pastoral entrepreneurs are a country mile from Jesus the Lord who said,
"If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up
his cross, and follow me. What good will it be for a person if he gains
the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?"
Your excellent article was low on Pentecostal soul-saving and high on
profit-gaining - the reverse of Jesus' emphasis.
If they would take this "prophet-making" message to the poor in downtown
Dacca, Bangladesh, or to the persecuted believers in southern Sudan,
they would find how far it is from biblical Christianity.
Yours sincerely,
Spencer Gear Bundaberg, Qld.
